(Although we have tried to optimize this page for quick loading it may be slow to load due to the pictures of the pups - sometimes up to five (5) minutes on a 56.6Kbps modem. Please be patient as it is well worth the wait.)

The puppies described on this website and page are "Purebred" Blue Australian Cattle Dog puppies only - Not "Pedigreed" Blue Australian Cattle Dog puppies! See our Australian Cattle Dog Glossary to define and clarify this term.

Although I do make reference in their parents genealogy (lineage) to them being from "Pedigree Australian Cattle Dog Stock" I have no way of being able to prove this to you at present apart from directing you to the owner of the dogs father (grandfather of the puppies), which I am more than happy to do on request.

As I stated above they are Purebred Blue Australian Cattle Dog Puppies and Not Pedigreed Australian Cattle Dog puppies.

Some Background History

Chloe - the bitch:

General: "Chloe" is an integral part of our family and an excellent guard dog for my business premises and running companion for my wife 'Kim' who is a professional athlete (boxer). Unless she knows you as family or we are around and have accepted you, you will not get into our yard - let alone get out. That is her job.

She is one of the best I have had the privilege to care for over the past 35 years of my involvement with this extremely loyal and faithful breed.

Nature: She has a playful, loving, friendly and caring nature for her family and friends of the family and she is absolutely great with kids - although I never fully trust ANY dog with little kids. She has had kids from the ages of toddlers through to teenagers around her all the time and has never bitten any of them let alone growled etc. She has been excellent. She is an excellent watch/guard dog and I have had many comments from people saying they wouldn't come into our yard if we weren't home - just what I want to hear.
(All toddlers in our yard are always supervised with an adult present at all times when "Chloe" is out of her yard space - which is most of the time. This is our own personal responsible dog ownership rule.)

ChloeMarkings: "Chloe" has a large dark barely distinguishable body patch stretching from the middle of her shoulders down the right side of her body to her leg and on the left hand side of her neck reaching up to and joining up with her dark head markings. She also has a patch at the base of her tail and on her tail.

She has very tan, tan markings on her legs, chest and head. She is a very dark "Blue" to "Black" colour with with a limited white fleck throughout her coat. She has short to medium length coat hair. See the photo below and on the "Australian Cattle Dog Photos" page for more in depth details.

Other: "Chloe" does venture out the front of our "in town" residence but does not wander far and usually returns within a short time IF she gets the chance to get out and/or when she is called. This is more a female "bitch" trait than it is "Chloe's" trait. Bitches do not tend to wander much and if they do they don't usually wander far.

Genealogy: "Chloe's" bloodlines are from purebred local Australian Cattle Dogs (ACD's - Blue and Red Heelers - guard dogs) in the Echuca-Moama area.

As I have lived in Echuca since 1979 and have known various breeders in the district I believe several of the Red ACD's in "Chloe's" background may have been pedigreed but am not 100% certain of this. Anyway this is beside the point as both her parents were not pedigreed and therefore she is only a purebred Blue Australian Cattle Dog - not a pedigreed Australian Cattle Dog.

Father - Purebred Blue ACD; (Grandfather - Purebred Blue ACD; Grandmother - Purebred Blue ACD)

Mother - Purebred Red ACD; (Grandfather - Purebred Red ACD; Grandmother - Purebred Red ACD)

Rowdy - the dog:

General: "Rowdy" is a working dog "in training" with his owner/master Dean Oliver and Dean's father Denny on their horse-breaking and cattle ranch situated in Echuca Village - just outside Echuca.

Nature: I found "Rowdy" to be a very manageable and friendly dog each time they were mated. I picked him up, transported him and kept him for a day or two before returning him myself. I found him to be responsive, good natured and in fact offered to purchase him myself the first time (but alas). He was also a great guard dog with a "big scary bark".Rowdy

Markings: Apart from a patch covering his left eye and partly on the left side of his head he has no other body patches. "Rowdy" has the expected and standard tan markings on his head, chest and legs and is a silvery "blue" colour with a short to medium length haired coat. See the photo below and on the "Australian Cattle Dog Photos" page for more in depth details.

Genealogy: "Rowdy's" bloodlines are from the BrettCliff Pedigree line unless noted. "Rowdy" himself has no papers as his mother was purebred and not pedigreed.

Father - Pedigreed Blue; (Grandfather - Pedigreed Blue Australian Champion ACD; Grandmother - Pedigreed Blue ACD)

Mother - Purebred Red ACD (Not BrettCliff line); (Grandfather - Pedigreed Blue ACD; Grandmother - Pedigreed Blue ACD)

The General Litter Details

This is the fifth litter from my bitch "Chloe" and the fourth litter in a row to Dean Oliver's dog, "Rowdy". "Chloe" is 6 years old this year and "Rowdy" is 4 years old. The dog we used for the first litter "Dozer" is now deceased - snake bite. "Dozer" was a full brother to "Rowdy".

We decided to use "Rowdy" again due to the quality Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) pups that the mating produced in the last three litters. I have seen several of the dogs and they have turned out very well. On request I may be able to supply pictures or video footage of the grown pups from the first, second, third and fourth litters. I am hoping to put these up permanently on the website over the next twelve months.

References: I do have the phone numbers or other contact details of most of the purchasers of the Australian Cattle Dog puppies (ACDs) from the previous litter/s and can happily supply them on request.

This litter of ACD puppies proved yet again to be a mixed litter of nine (9) in total, 5 dogs and 4 bitches. They all show very good "type" and overall so far I think this litter is THE best marked of any of our purebred litters.

Only two of these purebred Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) puppies had a body patch similar to the bitch "Chloe" generally they all only had a head mask or patch and a tail or base of tail patch. See below for more details and descriptions.

All of the Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) puppies are barking at strangers (and have been since around 2 and a half weeks of age). They are eating solids (such as moist puppy food) and drinking by themselves (puppy milk and water). They have been weaned from their mother over the last four weeks.

All of the puppies have what some Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) fanciers term a "Bentley" mark on their foreheads to varying degrees. These are white stars or markings on their foreheads that are only apparent as they mature and darken in coat colour. When they are born they are all white except for their obvious dark patches and so the "Bentley" mark cannot be seen. They all have Tan markings - a "bow-tie" looking tan mark on their chest and Tan colouration on their legs.

If you do get the chance to view them in person you will be struck by the physical size of them as they are amongst the strongest looking Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) puppies you will find anywhere. There are two reasons for this - and our vet will confirm the first one for you - and that is: -

  1. They are fed very well in the critical early development part of their life by both their mother and ourselves with high quality, high protein foods.

  2. And their genetics lend to them being bigger. Their grandfathers on both sides were good sized dogs with the Dog "Rowdy's" pedigreed father being a very thick Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) across the chest with very large paws and a big "boof" head (for want of a better description). And their mother is nearly 1 inch at the shoulder taller than most bitches, in fact she is similar in height to a dog.

In fact a Vet from Mount Gambier SA (who purchased a bitch from the second litter) kindly informed me the weights of the pups were each on average over 600 grams or more heavier than the average puppy weight for a litter of Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) puppies. Only the runt was less being only around 250 grams heavier than the average puppy weight whilst the biggest pup was nearly 1.5 Kgs bigger. Any wonder he drove over eight hours one way just to make sure he got the bitch he wanted!

That being said, I've seen two other fully grown Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) bitches - one from each litter past - and each one of them, apart from being beautiful dogs even if I do say so myself, meet the standard dimensions and markings for an Australian Cattle Dog bitch. Both were larger than average sized puppies.

Other Things We Offer And Do For You

As responsible breeders and lovers of the Australian Cattle Dog and because we are so confident in the quality of our Australian Cattle Dogs all of our puppies are sold with a Lifetime Genetic Defect Guarantee - see below or see the FAQs page.

As well as this, if for any reason and at any time in the future you need to give up your dog and find it a new home, just call us. We offer to take the dog back at no charge (or refund) and find it a new home. In fact we actually prefer to do it this way so we know that our dog is placed with a good home.

We guarantee we will not resell the dog for any more than our out-of-pocket expenses - if anything at all - when we are doing this. Usually we find a good home and give them the dog free. Depending on where you are situated we may also pick up the dog personally at no charge to you but at the worst you may have to pay the freight to transport the dog back to us. But don't get me wrong, you are not obliged to do this; you may find a good home yourself - this is just an added service we offer that we prefer to do.

The Puppies' In Depth, Details And Photos

On this page you will find one photo of each of the parents and one photo of each puppy along with their "Puppy" (temporary) name. Usually my wife and kids like to name them with their puppy names. This year we had a few names submitted from the people on our Early Notification List . Also on this page you will find a very brief  description of the puppy - their temperament and personality.

If you want to see more photos then go to the Puppy Photos Page. You will find many more photos of each Purebred Blue Australian Cattle Dog Puppy at different ages there. If you signed up for the Early Notification List then you will have ALL of the information on the litter that we have available on the Puppy Blog.

(Note: The descriptions of the puppies in the table below are as you look from the rear of the puppy to the front of the puppy i.e. from it's tail to it's nose.)

Toby is the largest pup in this litter now and holds his own easily with the rest of them.

Toby has a great playful nature and he can fire up when pushed a bit - not too much but not an easy trigger either.

Toby is reasonably outgoing and not shy. He'll be the boss of his new pack one day. He has a good feeling to him and gets an air about him sometimes. As if he thinks he's royalty.

Markings

Head: Even patches on both sides of his head and over his ears with a largish dot near to the rear of his head on the Left Hand side.
Body/Tail: A patch at the base of his tail.

Other Notes: Toby will be a fairly dark colour as an adult - very similar to his mother's colour.

Frog is a little bit of a loner compared with the other pups. He likes just to do his own thing and can be found asleep away from the other pups often.

Frog will most likely be a one person dog - very loyal and a great mate.

Frog has a very friendly temperament but fires up if needed at the others. :)

Markings

Head: Even Mask/Patches on both sides of his head and over his ears with a largish dot that joins into the patch to the rear Left Hand side of his head and patch.
Body/Tail: No markings.

Other Notes: Frog will be most likely be closer to the dark silver colour of his father as an adult than he will of his mother.

Angus is a character. As a little tacker he was always the biggest and most greedy but he seems to have lost this award now to Toby (above).

Angus is a rowdy little fella and I think is my older pup Cash's favourite pup to play fight with. He fires right back at the bigger pup and gives as good as he gets.

Underneath all of his rowdiness Angus has an affectionate and loving nature and I know he will turn into a fantastic family dog for Chris & Greg Clifford in SA. Still there is a lot of hard work to be done training him. ;)

Markings

Head: Patches on either side of his head. The Right Hand side from his eye to his ear and on the Left Hand side mainly over his ear with a faint spot on the back of his head that has all but disappeared as he's gotten older.
Body/Tail: A small patch on the base of his tail.

Other Notes: Angus will be a fairly dark colour as an adult - very similar to his mother's colour I think.

Patch has a beautiful gentle nature and will make a fantastic family dog.

Patch is full of love and affection and just loves a cuddle.

Patch socialises well with the other puppies. She'll be an invaluable member of a family one day soon.

Markings

Head: Small patch on Right Hand side ear and a large patch over her Left eye with a small patch on her Left ear.
Body/Tail: No markings.

Other Notes: Patch will be a fairly dark colour for a heeler but closer to her father than her mother I think.

Randy, Randy, Randy ... what can I say. Randy is THE luckiest dog of the litter except maybe Jesse who he's on a par with. Randy nearly left us on or around day 5 or 7, I can't exactly remember right now - it's in the puppy blog. Kim (my wife) was quick enough to revive him and look at him now.

Randy is definitely a mischievous little brat who can cuddle up or be the instigator of the trouble. He doesn't back down to nobody!

Get Randy by himself, or even with the litter, and all he wants is to be picked up and held close so he can give you the lick of death - a joke of course. He loves licking you. Especially if you wiggle your tongue in front of him. :)

Randy has the get up and go to be a good worker, rabbit and fox chaser and family guard dog.  A nice little pup. So glad he's made it this far.

Markings

Head: Patch on the Left Hand side of his head including his Left Hand side eye and ear. A very small patch/black Right Hand side ear.
Body/Tail: No markings.

BG has a very loving nature similar to Patch although she is a little more stand offish than Patch. She tends to isolate herself from the other puppies at times too.

BG is not shy when she knows you - in fact quite the opposite - but I feel she will be an excellent one-person dog. A great little pup.

BG has a noticeable finer or sharper nose/snout than the other puppies giving her head a more triangular appearance.

Markings

Head: Patches/Mask on both sides of her head including the eyes and ears.
Body/Tail: A small patch under/near her Right Hand side shoulder blade. A patch on her tail about half the way down.

Other Notes: BG will be a fairly dark colour as an adult - very similar to her mother's colour.

Jesse will be a mummy's girl. She'll definitely end up a one person dog - no doubt about it. She'll be a defender to the death. More spunk than she needs I tell you she will be a handful until she learns her place in her new pack.

Jesse was ... is the runt of this litter and as runts go she is no exception. She's more front than Myers and doesn't take any shit from the other pups ... even when she's on the losing end, which can be a lot of the time.

Jesse was the first pup to find a home at 1 day old. On speaking with her new mum - Ali - regularly, I think a more perfect match could not have been found if we'd tried. ;)

Markings

Head: A nearly even mask / patches on either side of her head just reaching to her eyes on each side.
Body/Tail:
A patch on her tail about one-third the way down tail.

Bakes has a beutiful nature one day and is a little michevious terror the next.

Bakes is full of personality and will be either a great companion, worker, guard dog or all three a once.

Bakes is not the largest of the pups in fact he is closer to the smallest than the largest yet he seems larger than life. He has this gentle smile and wag of the tail every time.

Markings

Head: A nearly evenly proportioned mask / patches on either side of his head with nice tan cheek and eyebrow markings.
Body/Tail: A medium to large body patch on the Right Hand side of his back and half of his tail is black with the patch extending just onto the body from the tail.

Nutt is full of life. She'll be a handful as a puppy requiring more attention than the others - and she is the largest bitch.

Nutt has a great temperament and will make either one person or a family with slightly older kids a wonderful pet or she will be a working dog.

Nutt can be very mischievous at times and likes to stir up trouble with the other puppies occasionally.

Markings

Head: A patch on the Right Hand side of her head and a small dot "shaped like a nut" on the top of her head. A very small mark over her Left Hand side eye.
Body/Tail: No markings.

Other Notes: Nutt will be a fairly dark colour for a heeler but closer to her father than her mother I think.
